Welcome
|
I have been creating beautiful outfits for Sasha and Gregor and
selling them on Ebay under my Ebay ID nicolettek0.
Before Christmas I decided that I would like to have a
website as a showcase for my outfits instead. So I
embarked on a few months of designing, creating and producing a
selection of new outfits and planning the website.
This will allow a wider variety and better choice. I
shall add new outfits on a regular basis. Useful information

KNITWEAR
All the sweaters are designed to slip over Sasha's head
easily. They have been designed specially for Sasha and fit perfectly. When putting a fair isle style sweater onto Sasha I
slip a little sock over each hand before putting the sweater on this
prevents her thumb catching on any strands of yarn. The majority
of the knit wear that I make has been designed by me. The main
exception to this is the sock pattern that I like to use which was
designed by my friend Robyn and the lovely mitten pattern that was
designed by Betsymay.
Knitting Yarn
Where possible I like to use natural fibres - shetland wool, 4
ply tweed wool, sock yarn (wool and cotton), baby alpaca, 4 ply cotton
and cashmere. On occasion, if I find the perfect colour that I am
looking for in a 4 ply acrylic yarn I will use it.
Care of Knitwear
Because the knitwear is made from natural and luxury
yarn, if it needs washed it should be gently washed in luke warm water
using a detergent specially for wool such as woolite or lux. I
rinse well giving it a final cold rinse. I try not to wring out
the sweater usually I put it inside a hand towel to remove excess water.
Then I lay the sweater flat on a towel, shaping it and allow to dry.

SEWN CLOTHING
Fabrics
Again when choosing fabrics for making garments, my
preference is for natural fabrics. I love the look and feel of
fine cotton corduroy, pretty cotton prints and soft faded denim.
All of the fabric that I use for making the clothes is new.
Choosing Colours
I always choose my Sasha model, for each outfit that I
make, first. Then I spend some time choosing fabrics that look
beautiful on the model, enhancing her beauty.
I like to drape the fabrics across her and choose
knitting yarn that co-ordinates with the fabrics to create a complete
and individual style for the outfits.
Finishing
I overlock all raw seams to give a neat finish.
Lined bodices are hand finished inside. I like to fully line
duffle coats and jackets. My aim is to make lovely, beautifully
styled, classic, well made clothes for Sasha, that will look gorgeous on
your doll.

ABOUT ME I have been making and designing
clothes for my Sasha, Jane, since I was a small girl. I
combined my love of art and design with my love for textiles
while studying for a degree in textile design and a post grad in
knitwear design both from the University of Leeds. Later I
added to my textile skills by studying a number of the City and
Guilds Courses, Part 1 and 2 in Patchwork and Quilting, Part 1
and 2 in Creative Design, Part 1 Creative Embroidery, Part 1
Fashion Design and Part 1 Soft Furnishings.
