I have been collecting original items of Sasha and
Gregor clothing for years. The collection began as many of my
Sasha purchases arrived with little or no clothing.
Several sources of information have become firm
favourites:-
-
Dorisanne Osborn's wonderful book "Sasha Dolls
Through the Years" as a visual illustration of the outfits and the
dolls.
-
Sasha Dolls Charts - The English Production and The
1990's Gotz Production - compiled by Susanna Lewis.
-
Dorisanne Osborn wrote fascinating and detailed
articles about many of the outfits in her Friends of Sasha Magazine.
I have many of them but not a complete collection. Really
interesting to read.
-
I have collected some of the original Sasha Doll
Catalogues - these are a wonderful resource showing the dolls
wearing their outfits and also photographs showing all the
individual items of clothing within an outfit laid out.
Some of these images are also on the back of the boxed outfits.
-
I have several large catalogues fro the 1990's Gotz
collection and they also have excellent photographic images of the
dolls and their outfits.
-
Susanna Lewis has a wonderful reference archive of
the 1990's Gotz Sasha dolls on her website
http://www.sashadoll.com/gotzarchive.html .
As the sources above cover all the technical collectors
information, I thought I would look at my original Sasha outfits in a
personal and quirkier way.
One of the interesting things that I have noticed about
the Sasha models in the catalogues is that the girls have straight or
slightly wavy hair rather than the heavy curls that the late 70's and
80's girls have. I do like the straighter hair look, although, my
nieces love to brush the curly hair.
As my original outfits have been bought mainly as
individual items until I had collected the complete outfit and the odd
time as a boxed outfit, I often used them with other pieces of clothing
to create a different look. I also dress different Sasha in
outfits that they would not originally have come in, partly because, I
do not have one of every type of Sasha made throughout the production
nor every outfit... some are still on my wish list.
The non-original items of clothing are from my Sasha
dolls personal collection and sometimes have not been made by me.

Alberto's Waif Outfit |
Alberto doesn't like looking like a waif from the last
century all the time. But he is rather fond of his
faded suede jacket. He has teamed it with a short
sleeved knitted sweater, a pair of dark denim trendon
jeans, socks and black leather laced boots. Just
about to head off with his friends for the afternoon. |
